Strangle Tourism British Style!!

Is early-bobbies another increase in the V.A.T.  Britain’s best answer to improving Tourism? You Decide!

No body is saying Too much about it! But the fact is clear:

The British Government decreased V.A.T. 2 years ago, from 17.5% to 15%, as an incentive for businesses!

But have cunningly increased it to 20% Effective January 2011! (A Sly Way of Funding the 2012 Olympic Projects amongst other things!)

I believe in the Free Enterprise System, but I also believe in giving value for money, and fairness!

The practise of Indian giving,  illusion, but most definately Deception, are alive and well in the British Government!

By this action every hotel, motel, and b&b (with the exception of a few!) are not merely content to raise prices by the extra 2.5%, but are using this Golden opportunity  to increase tariffs to whatever levels they deem fit!

(Remember what happened to that Proverbial Golden Goose!)

The final outcome, In most cases, is  A whopping 10 to 20% increase on the cost of a room, Or any other V.A.T. purchase for that matter

Raising Taxes in this fashion,  Along with  Unsubstantiated Greed by many Businesses, Will ultimately put a Strangle Hold on Tourism!

My business is already feeling the effect. Having to charge an additional $500 per person for a 10 day tour is a hard pill to swallow for anyone!  Unfortunately there is not a whole lot one can do about it!

For the Brits however it’s business as usual:

With a stiff upper lip and  efficient British politeness, it’s “Thank You Very Much and Have A Nice Day” As the British, & Foreign Tourist, is politely and pleasantly Screwed!!!

“More tea Madam,” Yes Please!!  Oh! and Please pass the biscuits!!
